27 May 2005: Booker Rest Home Recognized as One of the Best in the State
Monday morning was just like any other Monday for the Booker Rest Home Staff, but it all changed quickly enough this past week. Upon entering the facility, Booker Rest Home Director for Nursing Alice Dillard found the state inspectors there to greet her for the unannounced annual state inspection. Alice starting to panic, but then calmed knowing that she and her staff were ready for the challenge.
The reason for Alice’s confidence has been the preparation and hard work that she and her team have been doing for many months. “We have the best staff of care givers in the state, and it showed” Alice said.
The lead Nursing Home Surveyor, announced that the facility would receive a “No Findings/No Discrepancy” result – A Perfect Score! This is a monumental achievement as of the 248 Nursing Homes in the State of Washington, only 13 have been able to achieve a perfect score on a survey in the past 2 years, making Booker Rest Home the 14th to achieve that distinction in the past two years.
The annual state inspection focuses on quality of care and ensuring a safe environment of care for the residents, and that the facility is in compliance with state regulations as well as the Washington Administrative Code. Specifically some of the areas reviewed include Resident Rights, Quality of Life, Quality of Care, Nursing Services, Dietary, Physician Involvement, Rehabilitation, Infection Control, and Environment of Care.
“The Staff in the Nursing Home have always told me that they felt they provided the best care in the state.” CEO Bruce Grimshaw said. “They proved it!” “Each and every staff member, as well as the community, should be proud of our great Booker Rest Home.”
